Dear Erasmus Students!
Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana was established in 1919 and is currently the primary institution for medical education and research in Slovenia. Already twenty years the Faculty of Medicine actively participates in EU "Lifelong Learning Programme". Education and research are conducted in the field of Medicine and Dental medicine at undergraduate and in the field of biomedical sciences at postgraduate studies. About 1600 medicine and dental medicine students at undergraduate level are currently enrolled at Faculty of Medicine.
We are more than happy that in the last years we have received more and more exchange students who spend a semester or two at our Faculty. We are proud that we can host students from different countries and so learn each year about different cultures and get to know enthusiastic students. Since the number of incoming students is increasing each year, the good reputation about the Erasmus programme at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana aparently travelles fast.
Dear students, you are more than welcomed to join us in the Erasmus experience in Ljubljana! We hope meeting you in Ljubljana in the next years!

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana accepts Erasmus students for Erasmus exchange and placement (only if the programme is prearranged and confirmed ba the departments). The Faculty of Medicine only accepts students from the universities with which we have a valid bilateral agreement. Students are accepted either for one semester (winter or summer) or for the full year. We can only accept exchange students during the Academic year (from 1st October until 15th June), we can not accept students during the summer months (July, August and September).
Application dates for Erasmus students
- winter semester 15th May
- full year 15th May
- summer semester 15th November
Exchange students can only choose courses from our curriculum. A valid curriculum will be always posted on the web page. We provide a special programme for the Erasmus+ students and that is why we can not be as flexible as we would like to. Some courses are just one semester courses so we ask the Erasmus+ students to check the schedule beforehand. In the 6th year we offer the exchange students clinical rotations in Internal Medicine, Surgery and Primary Health Care and the course Primary Heatlh care with the exam. Only students from the last year can choose this option. If students from other years (4th and 5th) would like to attend them they first have to listen to the lectures and the seminars and only afterwards they can attend the clinical rotations. It is also obligatory for students who want to do clinical rotations in Surgery that they pass a colloquium in Ljubljana. Literature for the colloquium is provided in advance.
The programme in Medicine and Dental medicine is in general taught in Slovenian language. For all obligatory study forms (practical/laboratory work, clinical rotations, seminars and electives) nominated academic tutors will conduct and give support to Erasmus exchange students in English, if possible. Seminars, clinical electives and rotation will be in English only if the majority of presented students will agree. Fluent knowledge of English is OBLIGATORY. Student who will not be able to communicate in English will be rejected.
